What’s your name?

Latrelle Coward

What’s the name of your business?

The Brown Skin Co.

Where are you based?

New Haven, CT

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

My love of skin & self-care

What is your specialty?

No specialty (yet), however waxing services are most popular.

What is your signature technique and approach to skincare?

I believe skin care should be looked at as health care. When you’re feeling well (mentally & emotionally) on the inside that can be reflected in our skin. Our skin deserves tender, love and care and should be a huge part of daily self-care.

What’s your skincare regimen?

It’s a secret!

My routine currently consists of products being tested for my impending skin care line. However, my skin routine is currently very simple. My go to morning routine consists of cleansing, toning and sunscreen daily, plus exfoliating twice per week.

What’s your favorite serum?

My favorite serum currently is Skin Scripts Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum. The Ordinary’s niacinamide serum is a close second!

What’s the one skincare product you can’t live without and why?

Sunscreen! We all know nothing we do to our skin will truly have maximum effect unless we keep it well protected.

What’s your go-to food or drink that you feel supports your skin or gives it a boost?

I love avocados because they’re tasty & help contribute to my skin’s suppleness & hydration from the inside out. Green tea is my daily go-to as well.

Do you have any skin sins? If so, what are they?

Of course! I tend to skip my night routine pretty often and I can’t help but pick that occasional breakout.

What celebrity or influencer or notable person is #skincaregoals?

Issa Rae is definitely #skincaregoals!

What esthetician would you love to get a facial from?

Having a facial done by @LaBeautyologist would be cool.

Anything else exciting to share?

The Brown Skin Co. is a little over a year old & will be launching its own skin & self-care line very soon. Stay tuned!
