Esthetician, Felicia Keels

From Balancing Numbers to Balancing Skin

This Esthetician shares how her obsession became her life and how her skin care routine changes by the day.

What’s your name?

Felicia Keels

What’s the name of your business?

Golden Glow Skin and Body is the name of my business. I’m the owner.

Where are you based?

West Columbia, SC

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I have always had a love for skincare and beauty since I was a little girl. My mom would let me pick one thing for myself from her Avon catalog. That’s where the obsession started. After spending years in the finance industry, after college I felt unfulfilled and wanted to focus on doing what I loved. I had my own battle with hormonal hyperpigmentation so I knew my passion could help a lot of people.

What is your specialty?

Acne and Hyperpigmentation. Again, I had to deal with some hyperpigmentation after PCOS changed my skin so I can relate to my clients dealing with these issues.

What is your signature technique and approach to skincare?

My approach to skincare, especially for darker complexions, is to not only treat the skin but nurture the skin. We often times use lots of acids and enzymes trying to reveal new skin but you have to remember to feed the skin as well. At the end of every facial, I make sure to layer multiple moisturizers and serums to minimize inflammation and repair the skin’s moisture barrier.

What’s your skincare regimen?

I actually choose my products I’m using for the day depending on what’s going on with my skin. But usually, I cleanse in the morning with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser, Paula’s Choice Pore-reducing Toner, Tatcha Water Cream, and my EltaMD sunscreen. I scrub twice a week with Tatcha Rice Powder. I’m a big fan of natural oils too like Rosehip and Argan oil. I save all my serums, chemicals, and heavier creams for night time so they can work in my sleep.

What’s your favorite serum?

Pearl Essence Radiance Perfecting Serum with Vit C and Hyaluronic Acid. All of this brand’s serums and oils are great and really inexpensive.

What’s the one skincare product you can’t live without and why?

My favorite oil: Jojoba Oil. You can use it to moisturize from head to toe, it’s noncomedogenic, it’s anti-inflammatory, and your skin loves it. It’s amazing and natural.

What’s your go-to food or drink that you feel supports your skin or gives it a boost?

You can’t beat water. Throw some lemon or cucumber in it to give it a boost, but drink as much as you can if you want clear skin.

Do you have any skin sins? If so, what are they?

Sometimes I can get lazy and not want to take my makeup off before bed. To stop myself from doing that I leave my makeup wipes on top my nightstand. All I have to do is reach over and grab one so there’s no excuse.

What celebrity or influencer or notable person is #skincaregoals?

Beyoncé is glowing from head to toe lately. She’s always been beautiful but she’s looking better and better every year.

What esthetician would you love to get a facial from?

Louise Deschamps- Beyoncé, JLo, and Kim K are a few of her clients
